In today's healthcare and business environments, a
strong, established organization like The Pines must have a plan for the
future.
The Pines' Management Team and Board of Directors
have ensured that The Pines has both, a plan and goals, to guide The
Pines'
efforts for the next decade. Eddie Muller, Executive Director, together
with the management team, Pines' key consultants, and under the guidance
of Ron Norelli, worked with a board level committee to draft a ten-year
strategic plan, called Preserve and Progress: A Plan for the Future. They embarked on this journey first by gathering
substantial input from those whom this plan will directly affect.
Initially, a comprehensive assessment was undertaken
of The Pines' strengths and areas of need. Input was gathered through
surveys of current residents, future residents, employees, and The
Pines' Board of Directors. Interviews were held with local townspeople,
and an in-depth marketing analysis and preliminary financial feasibility
work were also completed.
After completing extensive research, The Pines'
Board of Directors unanimously adopted a proposed ten-year strategic
plan and instructed Eddie Muller and the management
team to implement the plan. The plan, titled Preserve and Progress,
seeks to preserve that which makes The Pines unique among other
continuing care communities, while laying the groundwork to progress to
meet the demands and changing desires of future residents.
A critical component of Preserve and Progress was the
identification of the overriding goal of The Pines: to be the retirement
community of choice in Davidson and the surrounding area, and to create
a vision for the next 10 years..

The Strategic Planning Committee determined that in
10 years we must be able to look back and say:
|
 |
Everything we do radiates The Pines' core values. |
 |
Our wellness and aftercare programs allowing residents to
enjoy optimum wellness and independence are the envy of other
retirement communities. |
 |
Our facilities and services are so good that current and
future residents see The Pines as in a class by itself. |
 |
Because we have set our sights high, the charitable gifts are
in place to support extraordinary facilities and the continual
nurturing of residents and employees. |
 |
Beginning with the board chair, everyone connected with The
Pines is committed to the relentless pursuit of our strategic
goals and clearly understands how he or she can make a
difference. |
 |
We have kept ahead of the curve - being proactive and
approaching change as an opportunity rather than reactive where
change is almost always a threat. |
To direct these efforts, six strategic goals were
identified:
1. To maintain quality facilities and services
2. To develop and retain a Caring, talented and loyal team
3. To have truly delighted residents
4. To nurture and foster strong community relations
5. To maintain financial stability
6.To be the unquestioned continuing care retirement community of choice
in Davidson and the surrounding area
The six goals incorporate a holistic approach and are
interdependent. For example, while it is important to have delighted
residents, that can only be possible with quality facilities and
services. Those in turn require a caring, talented and loyal team. Continued success for The Pines lies in focusing on all six
strategic goals. In achieving each of these six strategic goals, The
Pines will strive to be the best retirement community in the Southeast.
The strategic planning process identified some areas
that can be enhanced to further improve resident's health, wellness,
independence, comfort and The Pines overall financial security. Some
examples include:
